Other Projects

As busy as we are with Parallelogramophonograph, we each still find time to participate in other groups and projects. Here are just a few of them:

Rise and Shine! with Reiser and Shein

featuring: Valerie
Reiser and Shein are the Morning Talk Show alter-egos of Valerie and Curtis Luciani, a close, personal friend of PGraph. The show is a goof on morning chat TV, with Val and Curtis as the ageless, clueless coffee-swilling hosts. It's all banter-based, with story arising from the strained but cheerful interaction between the characters. Jon Bolden, another close, personal friend of PGraph, rounds out the cast as their producer. Each show features a different guest star.

Perfect Season

featuring: roy and kaci (view website)
Duo improv is a strange animal. Unlike in larger improv ensembles, you're constantly out on stage, acting and creating until the lights go down. Inspired by other Austin duos like Mcnichol & May and Get Up, Kaci and Roy have created their own twosome, Perfect Season. In a typical show, they can be found exploring the past, present, and future of 2 characters, oftentimes directly talking to the audience. They've been vaudeville comedians, silent movie stars, magical creatures, backwoods hillbillies, and foreign exchange students.

Adventure Squad

featuring: valerie and kaci
Valerie and Kaci take on the world as two plucky young girls just trying to get by. The girls scouts wouldn't have them, so they sent off for a guide advertised online to teach them how to earn merit badges for the Adventure Squad. Each shows features a different adventure, and also chronicles the even greater adventure of trying to survive the school day with their enthusiasm and self-esteem intact.

Badr and Janik

featuring: roy and kareem
Kareem and Roy play their own (entirely fictional) grandfathers, that famous Vaudeville duo Badr and Janik (pronounced Badder and Jannick). The show features one of their famous comedy routines, followed by an insider's look at their lives as they tour from town to town, struggling with the quest for fame, poverty, and keeping their friendship alive.

The Available Cupholders

featuring: kaci (view website)
Available Cupholders is a nationally touring improv comedy institution dedicated to expanding the horizons and expectations of what improvised theatre, film, and tv can accomplish. They have toured universities, festivals, and theatres for the past few years, gaining the respect of peers and enemies alike. They are involved in countless side projects, some enjoying great success, some are incredible failures. Awesome Fact: They all went to the same high school but none of then graduated in the same year. An Available Cupholders show is most often an experiment in form, usually designed to tell a story, and always hilarious. We have a kickass van, too. Just ask your mom.

Maestro

featuring: roy, kaci, kareem, valerie
Maestro is the most audience participatory show in the Austin Improv line-up. Maestro features improv games. On a given night, you might see living yearbook photos, improvised sermons, slow motion olympic games, epic battles, and heartbreaking scenes. The members of PGraph play in Maestro fairly frequently, and they even occasionally direct and host the show.
